Excellent result for Leo who had a great result in Trowbridge

Big congratulations to Leo for passing his driving test first time at Trowbridge Test Centre! 🚗👏

He stayed calm throughout and kept composed when faced with some challenging situations. Leo dealt well with the ongoing and changing roadworks, completed a pull-up on the right with a reverse back two car lengths, and carried out manoeuvres including parking on the left and parking on the right with confidence.

What’s Involved in the Test?

The test lasts approximately 40 minutes and follows a standard DVSA structure:

1. The Eyesight Check: * Before you even get in the car, you must read a number plate from a distance of 20 metres. Don’t forget your glasses if you need them!
2. ‘Show Me, Tell Me’ Questions:
- The ‘Tell Me’ Question: Asked at the start of the test (e.g., “Tell me how you’d check your brake lights are working”).
- The ‘Show Me’ Question: Asked while you are driving (e.g., “When it’s safe, show me how you’d wash the windscreen”).
3. General Driving:
- You’ll drive in various traffic conditions around Trowbridge. The examiner is looking for safe, confident use of the MSM (Mirror, Signal, Manoeuvre) routine.
- Watch out for the transitioning speed limits from 40mph rural stretches into 30mph residential zones!
4. Reversing Manoeuvres:
- You will be asked to perform one of the following:
  - Parallel park at the side of the road.
  - Park in a bay (either driving in and reversing out, or reversing in and driving out).
  - Pull up on the right-hand side of the road, reverse for 2 car lengths, and rejoin traffic.
5. Independent Driving:
- For about 20 minutes, you’ll drive independently by following either a Sat Nav (provided by the examiner) or traffic signs. This tests your ability to navigate Trowbridge roads without constant direction.
