Congratulations Utkarsh based in Yeovil for passing your driving test today in Yeovil with a few minor faults. It was a very busy Friday afternoon with lots of traffic and challenging situations to deal with. The test included a Hill Start, Reverse Park on the right and Sat Nav was used for the independent element of the drive. A good student who absorbed information well and developed safer driving techniques as a result.
Well done from Tony your Driving Instructor and all the team at www.blueschoolofmotoring.com

What’s Involved in the Driving Test?
The test lasts approximately 40 minutes and follows the standard DVSA structure:
1. The Eyesight Check: * You must read a number plate from 20 metres away before starting. Ensure you have your corrective lenses if required!
2. ‘Show Me, Tell Me’ Questions:
‘Tell Me’: Asked at the start (e.g., “Tell me how you’d check your tyre pressure”).
‘Show Me’: Asked while driving (e.g., “Show me how you’d clear the front windscreen using the controls”).
3. General Driving:
You’ll navigate the hilly terrain of Yeovil and its busy town centre. The examiner is looking for smooth gear changes and excellent use of the MSM (Mirror, Signal, Manoeuvre) routine, especially when dealing with the town’s many gradients.
4. Reversing Manoeuvres:You will be asked to perform one of the following:
Parallel park at the side of the road.
Park in a bay (forward or reverse).
Pull up on the right-hand side of the road, reverse for 2 car lengths, and rejoin traffic.
5. Independent Driving:For 20 minutes, you’ll follow a Sat Nav or traffic signs. This often involves navigating towards landmarks like Sherborne, Crewkerne, or the A303 junctions.
